The cold weather may slow everything else down, but not fiber.

Everyone knows that fiber internet is the fastest internet you can get but did you also know it's the most reliable in all sorts of weather? Here is why and as always if you need help with anything streaming or smart home related you can contact us at 309-778-8611 or by emailing us at OneSource@midcentury.com

Other forms of internet such as cable or satellite cannot compete with fibers speed or reliability due to major differences in how their networks are planned and laid out which leaves them vulnerable to a multitude of issues. Unlike these types of internet, Mid Century fiber lines are buried underground. This protects your fiber line from the wind, rain, ice and even the sun.

Thunderstorms with high winds, and wintery mixes that blanket everything in sheets of ice can easily pull-down trees or their branches damaging both your home and cable lines leaving you without internet until a repair technician can be dispatched, sometimes days later. Being buried underground severely limits the potential overhead obstacles can disrupt your fiber internet.

Each season also brings fluctuations of temperature which starts to affect your phone and/or coaxial lines no matter how properly they have been installed. Fiber on the other hand is insulated by being buried under the earth, helping provide that almost as fast as light internet that you and your family have come to depend on.

Why are there flags in my yard?

One day you may be surprised to come home to colorful flags in your yard or even the grass spray painted. You don't remember calling 811, so what could this mean? More than likely one of your neighbors has called and requested JULIE ( Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators.) , or a utility company is doing repairs and maintenance. That's right, even though the work may not be for your property, responsible do-it-yourselfers and companies want to make sure that no underground asset gets hit when the work gets underway on the properties next door. So, don't be alarmed if a locator shows up to your home one day to let you know that they'll be marking your yard. The alternative could add up to costly repairs or even injuries.  What is 811? "811 is the national call-before-you-dig phone number. Anyone who plans to dig should call 811 or go to their state 811 center’s website before digging to request that the approximate location of buried utilities be
